Fun Fact: Midnight Terror is owned and operated by a veteran and Oak Lawn native

Each year, we write about the amazing human, Justin Cerniuk, the owner of Midnight Terror Haunted House. Not only does he take great care of his haunt family, but also gives back to his local community and continues to help make improvements to his hometown. Justin is a Marine who started as a home haunter over two decades ago and now continues to operate a fully-professional attraction that provides an escape into the darkness from the everyday world. Once again, we want to take a moment to salute Justin and all our Veterans!

Midnight Terror Haunted House inhabits the building that was formally used as a textile factory. Located right across the street from a cemetery, I am not sure the crew here could ask for a better setting! While the outside sets the table, dinner is most certainly served inside, and it begins as soon as you enter the doors.

For 2022, Midnight Terror is utilizing a new queue system which allows guests that are waiting to enter the attraction to be able to watch more of the waiting room action. As we all know, there’s always a LOT of entertainment before you even get inside the attraction itself. To capitalize on that, groups are split up into pods so they can make sure to have a 360-degree viewpoint in the middle of the madness.

When the time finally comes to enter the Factory of Malum, guests are whisked underground into the newest setting: the caves! Don’t forget your spelunking gear, as it is time to not only go through the Factory, but underneath! Detail is paramount in every corner, and room layout creates multiple opportunities for attacks from all angles. A walk through Malum’s Factory is no cakewalk, as you will have to duck, crawl, and crouch through some very tight spots. But, rounding out the encapsulating environment is a powerful soundtrack and great choices in lighting to help accent the amazing construction!

Of course, no maze is complete without a cast of characters to help bring it to life! What really impressed us about this year’s show is the entire cast working together as an ensemble. From room to room, actors and actresses tossed patrons around like lions playing with their prey. Into getting a lot of attention? Look no further than Midnight Terror!

AND this continued as we entered into the town section of Black Oak Grove. Visiting with many of the townspeople, we traversed from the barbershop, to the dentist, to the church, ice cream parlor, and school. Actors here were playful and worked together to give you a full understanding of their life and horror here in Black Oak Grove. Traversing through this town, we experienced all of the horrors that lurked within!

As we ran for our lives, we ended in the now expanded midway which includes a host of fun activities like axe throwing, a palm reader, store, and room escape! Make sure you prepare for a full night of fun when you arrive here.

Monsters of Note: This is an incredibly unique year that the entire cast acted as one and we have to nominate the entire ensemble!

The Bottom Line: The MT crew continues to build and expand in order to make all their dreams a reality. Each year, we are honored to be able to bear witness to their amazing productions, and the nightscapes they create. If you are looking for a great time, unique in-depth experience, and nightmares that will keep you up all night, make sure you check out Midnight Terror Haunted House!
