In their second year, Killdare Haunted City has returned to take up residence in Bridgeview, Illinois.  Located just behind the Bridgeview Park District office on the grounds of Commissioner’s Park. As we approached the attraction, we were pleasantly surprised as there was a whole new entrance for 2022. We patiently waited in line while numerous actors roamed about, playing with patrons in line, as well as yelling and chasing one another.

As our journey began into Killdare Haunted City, we were addressed by a classic favorite “Not Blade”, as some may refer to him. After a quick lesson on the rules, we were asked to stay along the path and find our way. Entering the wooded area, we encountered actors running about, waiting patiently under the starlit skies. With patience, they waited for the perfect moment to attack our group. After narrowly escaping the woods, we came across a broken-down school bus where we were informed to head towards the train car ahead of us and knock three times on the door.  After following our provided instructions, we knocked three time and entered. Put right into the chaos, the actress within attacked before our group was even all the way inside.

After exiting the train car, we came across the train crossing where zombies lingered behind walls and came for our group, expecting us to be their next meal. As we escaped the chance for our brains to be dinner, we continued our journey, and made our way through some fantastically executed scenes.  Ranging from the bathroom and butcher room to the church, where we were invited to partake in a satanic ritual.

One of our favorite scenes this year was the corn maze. Bigger and longer this year, actors here played well and used the corn to their advantage. Hiding ever so perfectly, the light from the moonlight above played with our eyes and we never knew what was lurking behind the corn. Another particular favorite scene was the circus, filled with scantily clad clowns, this tag team of male clowns definitely made our group laugh! Make sure you have dollar bills on you, you may need them to make it out alive!

Making our way towards the end of the town, we encountered one of the local residents’ homes. While, some may say it was un-kept, the habitants inside begged to differ. Watch out for the family dog, she may bite!

As we escaped the city limits, we couldn’t help but leave with huge smiles on our faces as we truly enjoyed our experience throughout the entire attraction.

Monsters of Note: Kylie Smiley, Baby, Not Blade

The Bottom Line: With the new additions to this year’s show, it was evident how hard this group worked in the off season. Filled with great jump scares, a wonderful group of actors who gave it their all, and the perfect sets that fully submerged you into the feeling of a haunted city, this is one attraction you won’t want to miss out on. Not only is it fun for all, but it’s one you can potentially bring the whole family too, or those who want to whet their appetite before trying out the bigger attractions.

Don’t just take our word for it, check out these images from our visit:
