The Attic Haunted House 2019
The Attic Haunted House (Formerly known as The Park After Dark)

In 2018, the City had the opportunity to explore a new haunted attraction experience. Called, “The Park After Dark,” a group of haunters of all ages gathered together at Chase Park, just outside the pool house, to perform the first year of their attraction. What they produced was a haunted house fit for patrons of all ages, performed by haunters of all ages. We at Haunted House Chicago thought so much of it, we were honored to present them with the 2018 Best New Haunted Attraction Award.
Returning for 2019, their second year brought a slight change of venue and a change in name. Renamed, “The Attic,” the crew kept the show at Chase Park, but relocated it into the fieldhouse and took over the 2nd floor. Now able to fully control their environment, the designers had an opportunity to bring some nightmares to life.
The Attic hosts a number of traditional scenes, but done with a modern spin. Classic rooms like the dolly room, and prison, made for several jumps and shocks. But, we were very impressed with their mastery of the dark. The icing on the cake certainly came from their drape maze, and the amazing actors and actresses they had haunting that zone. Our team jumped several times!
While this is a great standalone attraction that would be enjoyed by families and anyone needing to get into the spirit of Halloween, we want to express what makes this place so special. All of the actors in the attraction are between 7 and 15 years of age. These are phenomenal kids who are learning a craft that takes some a lifetime to learn. But, they definitely have been paying attention, because they are executing at a high level. (We can’t wait to see what they do when they get to be 18… or dare we say 25!?) These aren’t just kids “yelling” or “screaming” at you, but acting to scare you!
We at Haunted House Chicago would like to extend our highest compliments to the crew and cast of The Attic Haunted House. Not only do they provide a great show, but they show unyielding dedication to the craft and service to the children of our community. Because of them, we had the opportunity to see the product of the seeds of haunting being planted in young, passionate youth who are having fun, and learning life-long skills.
The bottom line: This is certainly a fun experience, and one that everyone can enjoy. The scares are solid, the environment is spooky, and the show represents everything we love about this season. If this wasn’t enough, there is the opportunity to support a great cause of helping teach our youth leadership skills, and letting them have a really good time doing it!
