Niles Scream Park has been entertaining (and terrifying) guests of all ages for 46 years! They are a non-profit operation with 44 acres of property staffed by hundreds of volunteers that give over $100,000 back to the community and local organizations each year! Would you believe that they welcomed their 2,100,000th guest in 2019? (Yes, you read correctly: 2.1 MILLION!)
If all of that doesn’t catch your attention, we will give you a moment to re-read the paragraph above.
From our perspective, if all of that doesn’t convince you that the team at Niles is doing something amazing, let’s tell you a little more.
Niles Scream Park is located in Niles, MI. Now, that may sound far for some folks, but in all reality, it is only 94.3 miles from Chicago according to Google Maps. (And that’s under a 2-hour trip!) Surrounded by a number of great local restaurants and breweries, you can easy make this into a beautiful all-day and night adventure!
Niles Scream Park boasts (5) main haunted attractions, as well as (2) side attractions, and their overall midway. But, we will help break all of that down so you know exactly what you are getting yourself into.
We first experienced N’awlins Nightmare haunted house. Themed after a trip to New Orleans gone wrong, we began our mission to get as many beads as possible through various crypts, the bayou, and even an encounter with the voodoo priest!
Barely escaping, we moseyed into Deadwood. Themed after scenes from the old west, we moved through various western scenes filled with cowboys and demons alike! We even were able to pay a visit to the saloon!
We quickly boarded a wagon and escaped on the Dark Terror-tory Haunted Hayride! Venturing out into the darkness with 30 of our closest friends, we were treated to a barrage of scenes throughout history including the Salem Witch Trails, the wild west, and even a dash into prehistoric times! All set to a fun-loving narrated soundtrack, this was a whisk into the whimsical world of Halloween!
While the hayride may have been fun and laughs, the time for fear was nigh. We began down the trail to the signature, name-sake attraction: The Niles Haunted House. One of the largest stand-alone attractions in the entire Midwest, this attraction is constantly evolving and utilizes a splitting method in order to increase throughput! Some of the most memorable scenes include the opening library, the sewers, our encounter with Jack the Ripper, Castle Byers, the nurses, and museum of haunted objects. But, the highlight certainly was our voyage under the sea into the sunken pirate ship! Niles skillfully combines new-age technology and ideas, with old-school techniques such as moving floors and shaking bridges, and a smattering of classic scenes like the vortex and lookout edge!
As time flew by, we finally made it out with only a few minutes to spare as we entered into their epic attraction: The Field of Screams. Here, patrons are thrown into the middle of an outdoor adventure traversing through mazes, cornstalks, water obstacles, and crypts galore! This single attraction took us nearly 30 minutes to get through!
To round out the experience, Niles has a host of side attractions including: Hooded, a fully-immersive “18+ over, you will be touched” attraction, as well as (2) escape rooms, plenty of roaming monsters, and special performances by a magician! To top it off, there are plenty of food and beverage options to make your experience one you won’t forget!
The Bottom Line: Niles Scream Park is THE essential haunted attraction for the entire family for 46 years! If you are looking for a one-stop-shop to spend a full evening of Halloween-filled entertainment, have some screams and laughs, and make memories for a lifetime, look no further than Niles Scream Park!
