Since 2009, the team behind “Nightmare at the Terrace,” has been scaring patrons of all ages for almost 10 years! Located at Kennelly Park within the recreation building, this volunteer-based attraction is one of the shining stars of this park district program. Each year, many volunteers come together to help design, build and get a few good scares out of each other, all for the good of the local community.

As we began our journey into the unknown, we were greeted by Mr. Norman Bates himself, who welcomed us to check into the Bates Motel.  We weaved our way in-and-out of room after room, encountering numerous actors hungry for fresh meat! Mixed with a host of dark hallways, patrons were left guessing where the next attack would come from!

Some of our highlights included a visit with Georgie and Pennywise the Dancing Clown, to the scarecrow in the corn maze, and the room full of dancers dancing about.  Every actor and actress put their best foot forward and never backed down on their attacks. The heart could be seen from a mile away! Not only we were left feeling the spirit of the season, but smiling and enjoy everything that is Halloween!

Monsters of Note: Pennywise and Mr. Norman Bates

The Bottom Line: Nightmare at the Terrace does a wonderful job by bringing the perfect amount of fun and scares to their attraction. Set for the whole family to enjoy, your family doesn’t have to go far for this attraction that everyone can enjoy this Halloween season!
