Opening back in 2014, Insanity Haunted House has shown just how much it has grown over the years. They got their start at their original location in St. Charles, but are now taking up a residency inside the Peru Mall in Peru, Illinois. Nestled right off of I-80, this quiet town has enjoyed this attraction bringing the scares to the area. If anyone needed proof of that, the line inside proved just that the night we were there.

It wasn’t hard to find this attraction once we entered the mall, just follow the screams and music blaring in the distance and you’ll quickly find your way. Now totaling three storefronts, with the ticket booth set directly across from the entrance, the queue line was hopping. Here, we met a friend, the dapperly dressed Alistair and his lovely companion, Ronald. Alistair played with our group and the line as a whole. His wonderful witty banter set the perfect tone for the journey we were about to embark on.

Once we entered the attraction, we were given the rules and set off on our adventure. We first entered the work shed and were warned to be careful and cautious of where we were headed. Venturing on, the cabin in the woods awaited us. The fear of the monsters within who were hungry and ready to feast on our fresh flesh began to build.

Making our way through the cabin, we encountered the TV room, made our way quietly through the library with books stacked from the floor to the ceiling, as well as a trip through the kitchen where we were told we were late to dinner!

Exiting the cabin we thought we were safe, little did we know that was just the beginning. The swamp, the strobe maze, and even a church (complete with bible filled walls) were awaiting us! As we were making our way out of the church, we were informed we angered the devil by entering his house and should be prepared for the horrors to come!

One of our favorite scenes this year came once we were welcomed to the circus. Finding our way through the red & white curtain maze, we came to a room where we found ourselves with quite the problem; we didn’t have a way out. Our clown friend, with perfect timing, reminded us of how doors work and made us check multiple times just to make sure we didn’t miss anything. Now normally we would advise that you don’t take advice from a clown, but in this case, maybe you should!

Overall, Insanity has proven that it’s here to stay and a constant staple on our HHC season schedule. With new rooms, upgraded paths, and the actors being hungrier than ever! This attraction has something for everyone and should absolutely be among your considerations this season!

The Bottom Line: In their 7^th season, Insanity Haunted House has grown over the years. This is a unique location, great use of space, detail within the rooms, and their actors are always bringing their A-game. This attraction is one you don’t want to miss out on!
