Nestled just outside of the city-limits in northwest Indiana, in the small community of Lake Station, reside the doctors, patients, and overall psychopaths that call the Haunted Hills Hospital their home. Founded and produced by a family of veteran home-haunters, The Hills, they now have converted their operation to a full-scale professional production. With over 100 on-staff, multiple haunted productions annually, and even a vlog series, the Haunted Hills Hospital brand has certainly skyrocketed into the hearts of haunt-goers from Indiana and beyond.

Since Haunted Hills Hospital was brought to our attention in 2017, they have been a staple of our Top 13 attractions. And after our visit this season, we anticipate 2019 to be no different. From the moment you enter the block, you are immediately drawn to the flashing police lights like a moth to a flame.

For 2019, Haunted Hills Hospital has expanded their midway to incorporate various food vendors, snacks, and entertainment. Like being invited to the best party in town, the metal music fills the air with excitement, as the occasional shriek sends shivers down your spine.

The premise: A hospital where things have gone very, very, wrong… and the patients have completely taken over. All chaos has ensued, and somehow we have the honor of witnessing this… and trying to somehow make it out alive! The entire facility has a “hum” to it, as the energy from the seemingly hundreds of patients spills over the entire compound. Actors and actresses show excellence in their craft as if somehow harnessing, what looks like, absolute pandemonium!

However, there must be much said about the room design and layout. We are huge fans of foreshadowing and being able to look forward (and backwards) to different parts of our tour. Haunted Hills has incorporated this feature on a multitude of levels, and we truly enjoyed every bit of it. Not only does this element show you were you have been, and what you have survived, but it also gives the cast a rare opportunity to continue to showcase their endless routines and talents!

Some of our favorite rooms includes the dolly room, the drag room, the freezer, meeting Dr. Jonathan, and of course, Warden White! But, we had our best scare of the entire evening in the barrel room. Overall, this pandemonium was one that we certainly enjoyed!

The bottom line: Haunted Hills Hospital continues to show that it is a force to be reckoned with in the Chicagoland haunt industry. With relentless actors who have seemingly endless energy, and a crew of extremely talented room and set designers, we highly recommend this fully-fledged show that attacks on all cylinders! Outstanding!
