Burbank, IL

Before the season starts, the Review Team sits down and plans out what attractions we will be going to on what designated days during the month of October. But what remains the same and most constant, is every Columbus Day, we get to attend an iconic attraction, Frightmare Haunted House located at Haunted Trails in Burbank, IL.
Throughout the calendar year, patrons can visit this facility and partake in arcade games, go-karts, batting cages and even a mini-golf course that it horror themed. It is a place for kids (and adults) of all ages to have fun! As the calendar turns to October, they close off part of their parking lot and in comes the haunted house, ready to dish out some screams.
If you’re looking for your experience to be in-your-face intense, than this attraction is not for you. This is designed for the entertainment of young children, ones that are just being introduced to haunted houses, but also makes it fun for the adults too.
Frightmare simply put is: authentic, wonderful, and clean family fun that doesn’t include anything too”extreme”. The actors are spot on with their well planned attacks that will send you running from room to room.
This year, Frightmare was themed “Maniac Manor”, filled with more clowns than we could ever imagine! Some scenes that stood out was that of the elevator ride, be ready for a clever switch ahead, and the polka dot room. Throughout our tour, we were guided by a rather witty clown named, Mayhem. He definitely made his presence known and had a few clever jokes along the way.
As always, Frightmare never disappoints. We always leave with a huge smile on our faces and are happy that an attraction like this still exists, knowing that future little haunters out there have a place where they can say it all began for them too.
The Bottom Line: If you are an adult looking for a haunted attraction that will keep you up at night, this isn’t your stop. But, if you are just starting off in the world of haunted houses, or if you have children and are looking to give them an amazing Halloween experience, there is only one place that you should start your journey, and it is right here at Frightmare.
