Chosen as the 2014 New Haunted Attraction of the Year, 13th Floor Chicago definitely got it’s foot in the door and made its mark in the Chicagoland area last year.  Back for its second year, we had no doubt in our mind that they were definitely going to amp up their game for this season and we weren’t disappointed.

As we made our way through the main foyer of the attraction, many line actors made their way through scaring up the other patrons that were just ahead of us.  Nearly flawless in every move they made, they set the tone for what was ahead.

We were greeted by the gatekeeper and began our journey through the newly re-themed attraction titled: “Feral Moon”.  The overall theme of this attraction is based upon the town of Blackmoor, where there is a full moon upon them and the werewolves will once again ravage through the town.  As we made our way through the streets of the town, weaving in and out we were engulfed into beautiful scenery.  With the perfect amount of fog and lighting, creatures lurked in the dark in every corner.  Being ever so patient, they waited to strike at the perfect moment.

Walking through the sets, we were mesmerized at how detailed some of the scenes were.  For example, walking through the apothecary room, hundreds of little glass bottles filled the room everywhere you looked.  As we made our way through, we decided to give them a closer look and it looked like one of them was even filled with what appeared to be octopus tentacles!

After we survived all the werewolves, we continued on our way to the second attraction, “Dead End District: Wrong Turn”.  Adding on to its’ already established theme from last year, we learn of a crazed Dr. that comes to this town to start a new medical practice based on social behavior.  Over time, the residents in the town became rabid and murdered anyone in their path.

Making our way through the district, we zig-zagged our way through the streets, encountering so many disturbing townspeople.  All the way from the homes of the residents to the backyard alley, it made you feel as if you were truly living in an abandoned town and had to find a way to survive.

The Bottom Line: In only its second year, 13th Floor Chicago has definitely made its presence known in the area.  With beautiful scenery and in-depth detail, we have no doubt in our mind that this attraction will be here for a very long time! Make sure to check out this must-see attraction this season!
