Settling in nicely in their newer location in Schiller Park, the production staff behind 13^th Floor Haunted House Chicago has not had a lot of down time. After completing their season last year, they went to work and spent their off-season preparing to be the Saturday night featured attraction at the 2022 Midwest Haunters Convention! Although our HHC crew helped staff the event, we made sure not to experience all of the new fruits of their labor, so we could bring it to you fresh and unsoiled for October 2022!

Right from the moment you step foot on the grounds, you will notice the updated queue and midway area. With concessions, security, and the box office, along with a various cast of crazies, your time in line will pass very quickly as the screams and shrieks beckon you inside.

Inside, there are two main themes for this year’s show including the “Outkast Carnival” and the “All Hallows Eve.” The scenes here are very detailed and leave little to the imagination as the artistry brings you live and smack dab in the middle of the nightmare! With sets from floor to ceiling and lighting to put emphasis in just the right places, you are immersed fully no matter the scene. Want to feel like you are in the middle of a casino gone wrong? Check. How about a L-train platform? Gotcha covered. What about in the depths of the sewers complete with rats, pennywise, and running water? No problem here! Maybe a church with an EXTREMELY uneven floor is more your style? Don’t fall or run too fast. This is certainly a feast for the eyes!

But, don’t be fooled, the ears are not left out. 13^th Floor Haunted House Chicago has an amazing soundtrack that helps complete the package and pull you into this real-life movie set! 13^th Floor sets up dynamic soundtracks and effects that change depending on where you are located in the scene. One moment you are in the alley, and the next you are inside the apothecary shop with an entirely different feel and mood – just steps away from where you previously were! The church has chanting, the casino has quarters clinking, and even the bathroom has a rockstar soundtrack that makes you feel inside a slasher movie!

13^th Floor Haunted House Chicago certainly knows how to set the atmosphere, but the characters and masked folks running around in the night are the ones that complete the package. A visit to 13^th Floor isn’t complete with an amazing interaction with the witch in the apothecary, and of course, the incomparable, Eek!

Pro Tip: 13^th Floor even has a “secret” menu at the nearby Tiki Bar, Hala Kahiki, a Chicago institution and legend for over 50 years! Sounds like a match made in heaven! (21+)
